Happy St. Patty's Day!!!

We've had a really fun day today for St. Patrick's Day. We started getting ready yesterday, making a welcome banner and some green popcorn to leave out for the Leprechauns. Then today we began the day with green eggs (nothing more than glorified Eggs Florentine) and green milk (the regular milk turns green when you pour it into a "magic" cup--and by "magic" I mean "drops of green food coloring in it").

Setting out the snack for our guests of honor...
...and then the Leprechauns came, ate the popcorn, and left a golden treasure!!!
They even left some footprints behind. :)
Needless to say, the kids were pretty excited!

Sweet, Indeed

Daredevil

You know, I really wouldn't have pegged Aila as a daredevil. But then again, I just might have underestimated that little peanut. The girl rides the bouncey horse like a wild woman... STANDING UP on the horse's body! Thankfully, she has good balance and have never once fallen. Still, I set up pillows on the ground and make her stay seated when she rides. Except for when I took this picture for posterity.

Then the other day I found her, proud as a peacock, on our coffee table. And she did the same thing at the library today. Oy vey!

Nothing That Can't Be Cleaned Up

Here are some pictures of our preparations for the Leprechauns to arrive. We mixed blue and yellow paint to make green and did green footprints, and the paint didn't exactly stay on the canvas or the paper. Oh well--the mop wiped up the evidence of our messy but fun afternoon!

The Haircut

Trevor does not like getting his hair cut. But since he inherited thick, curly, unruly hair, we have to keep it pretty short. Pop & Essie got Trevor a little "Chia Pet" type of grass growing kit, so we let the little guy's hair grow long and had Trevor's next haircut coincide with his friend's haircut. Here's the before shot:

As you can see, he really is not a fan of this process...

We finally managed to get a little grin out of him...

All done! Now it's Trevor's turn to cut his friend's hair.

Looking good!

Soccer Player

This week Trevor started soccer practice. Right now preschool isn't in the works for him, but we thought getting him on this church soccer league would be a good thing for him in the meantime. He really had fun! He was so excited that he slept in his shin guards for the two nights leading up to his first practice. :)

Practicing throw-ins... Taking a break (I think he took about 13 water breaks)

I loved this picture of Aila. She was wearing her sweet little sundress, walking through the field...
...but she was a woman on a mission. She kept making a beeline for a chair. Not our chair. In fact, a pregnant woman's chair.
Make yourself comfy there, Aila!

Star

One of Aila's favorite books is "Goodnight Moon." She loves the page that says "Goodnight stars, goodnight air" and points to each star, saying "Tah! Tah!" This past week we were at the store and Aila got very excited and wiggly and said, "Tah!Tah!Tah!Tah!" in rapid succession. And sure enough, right in her eyeline was a poster with a big star on it.

Aila Makes the News

Aila was on the Channel 11 morning news on Tuesday morning for her first birthday!!

Now wait a minute--wasn't her birthday back in January? Yep. But Channel 11 had a backlog of 1st birthday pictures, so...Happy First Birthday to Aila on March 10th!

P.S. They pronounced her name correctly. :) That never happens!

Stuff You Never Knew Was in the Bible

Trevor was "reading" my Bible tonight, and it was a hoot to hear what he thought was in there.

This video starts off with him telling the story of Moses telling Pharaoh to let the people go, and Pharaoh refusing. That's where the "NO! I'm not gonna listen!" comes in, as well as the part where God sent the frogs and the bees and the bugs (plagues) and then apparently Jesus shows up as the bad guy in the middle of that story.

I reminded him that it's PHARAOH who won't let the people go. So a little while later he was back at it and I overheard him say, "And Moses told the fairy to let those people go!" :)

Glad to know he's into Biblical accuracy!

I got a couple of videos of him "preaching a good (albeit fairly inaccurate) word," but since I can't upload them all I thought I'd include some of his key phrases I overheard:

* A crocodile came and ate everybody.

* Jesus was talking to everybody and he said lots of long words and then covered everybody with pine needles.

* The fish ate the garbage truck man and then spit him onto dry land.

...and last but not least....

* Jesus was nudie and they told him, "Nobody wants to see that." :0

Perhaps all of these are in 2nd Galatians?

The Sweetest Sight a Mother Could See

I came out of the kitchen yesterday and saw this. It made me smile. And, somewhat miraculously, the moment lasted long enough for me to run upstairs to grab the camera. :)
