Dear Mimi, Papa, Mermaid, Pop and Essie, (Wow--whatever happened to "Grandma and Grandpa"?)
A few months ago Trevor was reading out of a Clifford book, and he was telling me all of the CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant words. I really didn't think anything of it since I just figured he had them memorized. But then anywhere we went he started sounding out and reading CVC words wherever he found them. Go figure!

"(Wow--whatever happened to "Grandma and Grandpa"?)"
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's because 50 is the new 30! Speaking for myself, when my daughter had her first baby, I had just turned 50 and did NOT feel old enough to be called "Grandma". I had visions of gray hair, aprons and horn-rimmed glasses, and that didn't jive with my fresh L'Oréal honey brown hair, jeans and trendy eyeglasses. So, I asked to be called "Gram". I love it! And when Caleb affectionately calls me "Grammy", I melt.
I know a "rose by any other name"... but I'm not ready to be called "Grandma"!
